The award honors the memory of the late Vembu Subramanian, noted oceanographer and leader in ocean observing at SECOORA, which has described his life as, “… dedicated to uplifting others”. Funding for this Award is provided by the U.S. IOOS Office. It is distributed through CARICOOS to OCOVI to be made available in the U.S. Virgin Islands. OCOVI gratefully acknowledges the support of the UVI Center for Marine and Environmental Science in the distribution of the awards. The work of each awardee is described in the full article on the CARICOOS site.
