Background

Issue. Successful growth in the New Blue Economy hinges on the availability of people interested in an ocean-based career regardless of discipline (e.g., engineering, software programming or robotics) or program (e.g., field work, program management, policy management, data and information services, engineering).

Opportunity. The Ocean Enterprise community is invited to provide suggestions on how the workforce may be encouraged towards a career in ocean observations via the questionnaires below. Responses will help shape a proposed NSF-NOAA workshop focused on growing the ocean technical workforce, including the focus, number, invitees and speakers, and structure of any future NSF and NOAA co-hosted events.
