Links
The list below provides an initial set of links to NOAA IOOS partners and data resources. This is not meant to be an exhaustive list and will be added to over time as additional resources are identified.
Partners
- Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS): This NOAA Web page provides additional information about GEOSS and the intergovernmental Group on Earth Observations (GEO), co-chaired by the NOAA Administrator, which is responsible for developing GEOSS.
- Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS): This Web site provides access to information, documents, and events related to GOOS, a permanent global system for observations, modeling, and analysis of marine and ocean variables to support operational ocean services worldwide.
- Interagency Working Group for Ocean Observations (IWGOO): The IWGOO, which manages interagency coordination for IOOS, provides access to interagency guidance documents and a variety of other high level U.S. ocean governance committees. The IWGOO is responsible for personnel, budgets, programs, and funding of Ocean.US.
- National Office for Integrated and Sustained Ocean Observations (Ocean.US): Ocean.US, established in 2000 by the National Ocean Partnership Program, coordinates interagency contributions to advance the U.S. IOOS. Ocean.US provides considerable information and documentation about IOOS activities at the national level
- NOAA Coastal Services Center (CSC): This page provides information and links about IOOS applications, activities, projects, and Regional Coastal Ocean Observing Systems
- NOAA CSC Funding Opportunities: This page provides information, guidance, and applications for fellowship and funding opportunities from the NOAA CSC and other sources.
- NOAA's Climate Program Office (CPO) : Participation in international policy discussions, including those related to GEOSS, is an important part of NOAA's climate work. This site provides access to the Climate Program Offices resources
-
National Ocean Economics Program (NOEP) : This site provides access to a range of the economic and socio-economic information to identify changes and trends along the U.S. coast and in coastal waters.
Data and Other Resources
- Calendar of IOOS-related Events and Meetings
- IOOS Community Information Repository: This site is designed to help operators of the local ocean observatories and data providers to find and share best practices on data management. The site is also intended to be an authoritative source for design specifications, standards, reference implementations and other material identified by the Ocean.us and the Coastal Services Center as instrumental to IOOS at the local and regional level.
- IOOS Portal for Oceanographic Services for IOOS Data and Information (POSIDIN): POSIDIN is an oceanographic observation Web portal for the exchange of information for NOAA's Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services and National Data Buoy Center IOOS participants.
- NOAA National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) , Maps of Regional Marine Data. NDBC provides the access to the locations and real-time data collected from a variety of regional marine data.
- NOAA National Data Buoy Center, Daily Status of Observing Platforms. NDBC provides daily updates on the status of ocean observing platforms around the country. This allows users to quickly determine if the buoy or other platform is operational or inactive due to storm activity, maintenance, or other issue.
- nowCOAST, nowCOAST is a web mapping portal providing spatially-referenced links to thousands of real-time coastal observations and NOAA forecasts of interest to the marine community. The portal serves as a "one-stop shopping" web site to real-time coastal information from a variety of Internet sites both within and outside of NOAA.
